A comparison of bear ritual practice in early medieval England and Scandinavia by the Anglo-Saxons, the Nordic and the Sami people. The study is from an evolutionary archaeological perspective looking at the costly-signaling model as a motivating factor for the use of bears in ritual and funerary practices.
