In the Shadow of Hate, We Stand Together

An important message about the rising antisemitism in America from KleinLife President & CEO

Children celebrating Shavuot at KleinLife amid rising antisemitism in 2025

In the past two weeks, we’ve witnessed two gut punch events — in Boulder, Colorado, and Washington, DC — that serve as stark reminders that antisemitism is alive and well in America, even in 2025. These events weren’t isolated. They are happening on college campuses, in our public spaces, and on our streets.

But while the world shook, something powerful happened here at KleinLife, our Jewish community center. We celebrated two things that couldn’t be more important in this moment: the end of the school year for our Jewish Children's Sunday School, and the holiday of Shavuot — the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, the moment our people declared, “We will do, and we will hear.”

For most of the families in our program, this isn’t just ritual or tradition — it’s personal. These are Russian-speaking Jewish families, many of whom grew up in the Soviet Union, where Judaism was banned, synagogues were shuttered, and Jewish names were liabilities. I know, because I lived it.

Now, more than three decades later, we’re watching our children speak Hebrew, sing Jewish songs, and recite blessings — things our parents were too afraid to teach us. This is nothing short of a miracle.

This is why KleinLife exists. We’re more than a community center. We’re a space where Jewish identity is rebuilt, reinforced, and celebrated unapologetically. We are a voice for those who were once silenced, and a home for the next generation of Jewish life.

If you’re reading this, you’re part of that story. You’re part of the reason we can still gather, still learn, and still proudly affirm our Jewishness in the face of fear.

Thank you for your continuous support and may we go from strength to strength!
