KleinLife Receives $200K from Maimonides Fund

Agencies that were selected are on the front lines of meeting pandemic-related needs.

As a result of reaching a $1 million fundraising goal in a six-week period, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia announced KleinLife as one of 13 non-profits receiving grants from their Maimonides Fund. On top of the $1 million grant award, Jewish Federations of North America is contributing an additional $500,000 grant, raising the total to $1.5 million. Agencies that were selected are on the front lines of meeting pandemic-related needs, a position KleinLife knows all-too-well.

KleinLife has delivered about 90,000 meals to more than 600 seniors with the number of meals continuing to rise since the pandemic began. The organization has been given high priority by the fund and will receive a $200K award, which will be used to buy about 45,000 meals to deliver to homebound seniors. “Jewish Federation has really stepped up and helped us since day one (of the pandemic),” said Andre Krug, KleinLife President & CEO.

When the pandemic began, KleinLife worked quickly to ramp up its delivery programs and its online presence. They now offer 10 to 15 programs a week online for seniors, in addition to other virtual programming. “We’re as busy as ever,” Krug said. “It’s just been a different kind of busy.”

Jewish Federation Executive Vice President Melissa Greenberg has said that the grant awards will likely be distributed in the first quarter of 2021.
